Making Way For Baby: New Video from Amphion Communications Teaches Love
in the Womb
(Pompano Beach) Anxious mothers- and fathers-to-be received a helping hand
today from Florida-based Amphion Communications, which announced the release
of its latest educational video title, Make Way For Baby!. Based on the research
of noted child developmental psychologist Dr. Beatriz Manrique, this program
teaches innovative prenatal stimulation techniques that help parents establish
early communication and build loving, healthy relationships with their babies
even before they are born.
Focus on Families
Interest in prenatal stimulation has grown steadily as research results continue
to show that babies stimulated by methods such as singing and talking while
still in the womb tend to exhibit accelerated visual, linguistic, and motor
development. Although most of the attention has focused on results showing
significantly higher intelligence and creativity in stimulated infants, the
developers of Make Way for Baby! emphasize the benefits of prenatal stimulation
for building healthy parent-child relationships. "We are not out to create
little Mozarts or Einsteins," said Amphion executive producer Carlos Arenas.
"Teaching parents how to communicate with their unborn child forms an early
bond of trust and love and provides the stable, supportive environment that
every child needs in order to learn and grow. We want to foster the kind
of unconditionally loving environment that makes children feel more secure
exploring, learning, and expressing themselves."
Recent studies have demonstrated the critical importance of proper child
care during the earliest stages of child development. According to experts
such as Rene Van de Carr and Thomas R. Verny the quality of care and level
of stimulation in the first weeks and years of life contributes directly
to the childs future health, happiness, and ability to develop to his
or her full potential. Additionally, babies who receive sufficient stimulation
grow up to have better relationships with parents and families and are much
less likely to suffer from neglect or abuse. "Prenatal stimulation is the
first and best gift a parent can give to a child," noted Anna Maria Ameli,
a mother who participated in Dr. Manriques prenatal program and
collaborated on the Make Way for Baby! project. "Providing a stimulating,
safe environment before as well as after birth gives kids the keys to success
in the long term."
If you learn only one thing from this program, remember:
The more emotional and intellectual contact you have with your child during pregnancy,
the better your ability to communicate will be after the child is born.
You will feel safer, more confident, and more able to understand what she likes or dislikes;
above all, you will establish a continuous flow of affectionate communication that will make you feel that you have always known your child.
Love and respect are the most important lessons your child will ever learn from you.
The potential benefits of prenatal stimulation may also extend beyond the
level of the individual or even the family. Amphions program presents
stimulation techniques first developed by Dr. Manrique for "Project Family,"
a successful prenatal education outreach program designed to improve the
lives of at-risk children. "With todays busy lifestyles, many things
compete with children for our attention," said Ameli. "This program reinforces
parenting skills and helps parents interact with their child early in an
organized way." According to Arenas, Amphions new program shares Dr.
Manriques social vision and interprets it for a general audience.
"Hopefully, we can build a stronger, better society, one child at a time."
A Complete Prenatal Educational Program
Make Way for Baby takes an innovative, comprehensive approach to prenatal
parenting that optimizes the emotional as well as physical well-being of
both mother and child, preparing them for birth and beyond. Parents are guided
step-by-step through every stage of pregnancy, and for each trimester they
learn:
· How the fetus develops and when specific physical and sensory capabilities
are acquired.
· A range of techniques to stimulate the baby at every stage of development
in order to enhance mental ability and form a lasting bond of love and
trust.
· Exercise routines to alleviate the physical discomforts of pregnancy,
avoid injury, and facilitate labor and delivery
· Relaxation exercises that promote emotional health for both mother
and baby
Thanks to its chronological presentation, Make Way for Baby! grows with the
baby to meet rapidly changing needs. New stimulation techniques are introduced
as soon as the fetus develops the capacity to benefit from them, and new
toning and strength exercises are added to the mothers routine as her
pregnancy progresses. The program also emphasizes proper nutrition and prenatal
care.
Make Way for Baby! takes an interactive approach to prenatal stimulation.
Rather than simply piping pre-recorded sounds to the fetus, the video encourages
parents to create their own stimulation exercises following the examples
given. "Parents have to be actively involved, use their own voices, make
up their own games. That way we optimize bonding," explained Ameli. Arenas
added, "The goal is to communicate love, not just information".
